• I have recently been working with the developer of the Pods plugin to troubleshoot an issue where saving a custom post with many image fields takes up to 60 seconds.

He identified an option in this plugin as being part of the issue. Disabling this option helps mitigate this issue.

Purge Archives: when a post (or page/custom post) is modified or added.

    From the developer:

From Classic Editor when saving the post — when updating the post attachments via wp_update_post during the save_post process, the saving can end up timing out at around 60 seconds.
When updating only one or two post attachments, there are still slow downs.
The use-case is that this post type has a number of fields that you can edit to upload attachments and update attachment titles as needed. Without updating these attachment titles, the saving process is fine.
The issue comes up when using the Pods Framework plugin which defined the post type and custom fields for this use-case. The lead developer Scott Kingsley Clark has provided these details to better help you determine a solution for or figure out what may be going on here.
