After reading the user guide I am still unsure what the usage of the Cookie List is.

Is it a place where I should enter information about the cookies already used on the website, which then will be made visible to users by this plugin? Or maybe that makes it be picked up by the Policy Generator so it’s displayed there, or in the Cookie Audit? Does it have any impact on whether the cookie is actually used? What happens if I don’t add anything to the Cookie List?

On the other hand, does this plugin actually prevent non-necessary cookies from saving to users’ browsers if they do not consent? Is that related to the usage of the Cookie List?

Last question is — is it the expected result while I am logged in as admin that the output of the cookie audit is “no records found” while I can see that there are cookies currently in use in the browser?

Sorry it seems like I’m missing a big chunk of info. I’ll appreciate a clarification or guidance.

    Thanks!

    Hi @hormiganegra,

You can enter the details of the cookies already listed in your site so that you can share the information with the site visitors which is an important step for GDPR compliance. Since our plugin deletes cookies by cross-checking the cookie name from the cookie list, it is mandatory to list all cookies for the REJECT button to work correctly.

The blocking of cookies is done by blocking the script that sets the cookies. For example, to block google analytics cookies, you can add the google analytics script inside the Non Necessary Cookie script input field in the plugin. That script will be blocked until the user gives consent and thus the cookies are also blocked.

Please add the cookies to cookie list to show them while using [cookie_audit] shortcode. Kindly ensure to clear the site cache to reflect the changes.
