I am interested in this plugin for the layout. I don’t understand WP yet. I have looked things up, but I still do not understand what this means:

“Query post from your custom post types”

Are these search results or something?

    Great to see your interest.

as you are new to WordPress you will need to understand custom post an awesome feature for wordpress.

as for example you have default post and another posttype ‘book’, most of the theme works with default posttype ‘post’ or integrated their own custom posttypes.
but not for custom post you created or need. so if you want to query new custom post created by you will need coding to display on frontend which really hard for some people who don’t know coding.

by this plugin you can query your any custom post and display as grid.
    That’s it

    Thank you!
    Sorry…
I don’t understand how to get things to show up. But I have not created custom posts – so maybe that is why? For Content, I checked off Posts to test it.

I am looking for a plugin to display posts by categories in a grid. I am keeping your plugin – I just learned about/why/how-to use custom posts yesterday.

Thank you for responding and explaining.

How do I get things to display? Must I create custom posts, meaning regular posts do not work with it?

    Thank you

Thank you. The link is very helpful!

I must have missed a step? No idea…

I do not have “Post Taxonomy and Category” options in the content box/tab.

It ends after “Grid Content Post Type” – there is nothing to set after that in the content box.

    Okay. No problem.
Then how do I get anything to display? It comes up blank on the test. That is all that I want.

If you already install plugin “Post Grid” after activate you will see menu “Post Grid”

You need to create a post grid first. click “New Post Grid” under “Post Grid” menu.

Choose options as you need under “Post Grid Options” section on New Post Grid page

you need at least one postype from “Grid Content Post type” check-box’s
and the published “Post Grid” as like default post. copy the short-code like [post_grid id="1234" ] and paste on your page content where you want to display the grid.

I have a live website. I will follow your instructions, I think that is what I did, and if I still have trouble I will go to your site. I use a lot of plug-ins, maybe there is a conflict – you will see if you login. Thank you very much.

Ah! I was using the buttons “view post grid” and “preview”.

    When I copy/paste the short-code into a post/page, it worked.

    So sorry for the hassle!
Thank you very much for all of your time.
    Cheers!
