    Hi guys,
Using your enterprise server and super happy with LS and this plugin.
Love the free WebP QUIC.cloud creates for me! Thanks.

I was however wondering whether I would benefit if also used an image optimization plugin for when I upload to the site a new image.
Would this be needed at all or is QUIC.cloud handling everything?

Other image opt plugins [imagify, kraken.io or robin] enable to decide max width or size ratios cropping etc of images but cannot see any options here for such fine-tuning.

    Hi,

yeah , currently we only do image optm, but not resize or crop for images

technically you can have combine use for these plugins with ours

when LSCWP does image optm , it will check if image has already been optm’ed before , if so , it will skip that one and continue to next

@qtwrk Is there technically any difference between your QUIC.cloud image opt to plugins that do it like Imagify, Robin or Kraken.io – I mean, do they have some special tech others don’t have, to make the file smaller without quality loss when comparing say image quality 82 as the goal and aside from resize feature?

And if using a plugin and QUIC.cloud will it not convert to webP if image is found to have been already optimized?

I’d love to see an option to send images to webp optimization also if they were uploaded when a site was already built prior to LS Cache plugin, or during maintenance/coming soon mode where I think this also isn’t pulling.

And to request for individual/selected images the webP conversion in media library, for the missed/certain ones.

    Thank you.

    Hi,

do they have some special tech others don’t have,

I’m sorry I don’t have any idea about this , as I never used them before

will it not convert to webP if image is found to have been already optimized?

even your images were already optimized before LSCWP starts to do img optm , it will still try to generate the webp version.

this is a general workflow for it :

let’s say you have an image called test.jpg

    1. LSCWP will send the images to image server to optimize
    2. once optimize and webp generation is completed , it will notify plugin to pull them back
    3. once it is pulled back , it will check the md5sum , to make sure the images is what it is and not damaged/altered during the transferring and also compare the size to orginal images
4.1 in step 3 , if the received images is LARGER than original , then it will drop this image and marked it as “already optimized”
4.2. if the received images is SMALLER than original , then depends on options , it will either rename the original to test.bk.jpg , or delete it , then save this image to test.jpg to take its place

    5. in step 3 , the received webp file , will also do a size compare against original images, drop or save into test.jpg.webp for future usage

Thank you again for great support.

How to force webp conversion for some files I see were missed?
They are normal transparent png files. One was recently uploaded while site is under coming soon mode. Could this be the reason webp failed? I do though see image optimization data in media library for the said png. But no webP.

It is used as an overlay for Presto Player – does it matter where/how image is utilized to the QC image optimizer when it decides what to send back/use in step #5?

    Hi,

the most common cause for webp generation failed is the webp file is larger than original , at this point , it makes no sense to keep a bigger file

Thanks. I didn’t know WebP could be larger, good to know you have such great optimization, thanks! And thanks for the generous free tier [I purchased 155k credits to have if needed and to also support your dev. I hope they don’t expire as not yet needing them even!]

    Hi,

    thanks for your support ??

if the credit is not used, it won’t expire, you can save it for future usage , or other services

    Best regards,
