Q on Google Drive backups

    I have been backing up a number of sites to one Google Drive account, and similar with a Dropbox account on other sites. Since I’m using the free version of Updraft, backup files from all sites are in one Google Drive or DropBox folder. I just discovered that if I click the Rescan Remote link, I see a list of backups from all backups in the Google Drive folder, including backups from sites other than the one I clicked the link in. I also just found I can download a backup from site 2 when logged into site 1.

    Is this the way free Updraft works on cloud services like Google Drive and Dropbox, or is there a way to prevent this that I’m not aware of?

    In this case you’ll have to create a folder for each site on your GoogleDrive account and add the path inside UpdraftPlus > Settings, So the backup of the particular site should go inside the folder.

    @stvwlf Picking up backups from other sites is the *intended purpose* of the “Rescan remote storage” link. Please see the help text that shows if you hover over it. If you don’t want to see backups that are in your remote storage that are not already known by the site you are on, then the main thing to do is not press that link, because it’s for importing them.

    The paid version has an additional feature for using separate sub-folders.

    Hello! This was exactly my question as well.

    Also please make it clear, @bornforphp, @davidanderson, that now on the free version of UpdraftPLus, only that admin can see and retrieve the files via ‘Rescan remote storage’ who is the owner of the connected G Drive account, or every other admins also can see and scan the same list?..
