I feel silly even asking this after all the years I’ve been using Query Monitor, but I feel like Query Monitor used to show me information about syntax errors, such as a missing semicolon or a meaningless stray “foo” in a plugin. These kinds of errors show me the standard “There has been a critical error on this website. Learn more about troubleshooting WordPress.” message.
Is it possible for QM to show me information about the syntax error in directly in the browser or no? ??
(Or am I just totally misremembering)
    Thanks as always!

It does include a fatal error handler, yes, but whether it has a chance to show you the error depends exactly on when the error is triggered. A syntax error will get caught and shown by Query Monitor if it occurs in a file that loads after QM has fully initialised. If it occurs earlier than that then it’s unlikely QM will be able to handle it.
