• I’ve been using the free and pro version on a lot of websites with great use for a long time now. It’s a great price for a lot of features, but the quality of code is just not very high. For instance, randomly this ARMember lite version keeps automatically installing out of nowhere. I had to manually remove it from multiple websites I use ARMember pro with. Seems a bit like this is being done to boost their WP.org download stats. (Maybe im wrong and this is just some bug) Also there has been an open standing security vulnerability with the lite version (including the latest 4.0.14 version). According to cvedetails and Patchstack, there have also been 9 other vulnerabilities in that past that have been fixed. But I’ve seen no security notice or communication from the devs about this. This plugin handles my members personal data, so seeing this many security issues does take away some trust in this plugin. The lite version has also been take down by wp.org multiple times for no clear reason.

There have also been some (small) vulnerabilities with the pro version, but I just wish to see some more transparency from the devs side. It is sometimes not clear what is getting fixed in the plugin with new updates with no more documentation than just “Minor bug fixes.”. Some improvement on the quality of code, documentation and communication would give more confidence to depend on and have trust in this plugin. It would also make it much easier to troubleshoot and get some weird bugs fixed that I’ve been having for a long time. It is also not completely PHP 8.1/8.2 and the latest WP update. (Just take a look at the wphive.com page, it doesn’t look that good). But unfortunatly I’m not even allowed to post support questions here and the only possible way to report or get support, is to pay for support. Reporting bugs shouldn’t be like this hard, right?

Hope you can understand my frustration and don’t forget: I still think this plugin is really great and has all the features you need for a great price or even the lite version! (That also includes enough free stuff). I just hope you can improve on and take into account the 3 aforementioned categories. That would make this plugin look and feel much more solid, professional and safer.

    Hi @toineenzo,

First of all thank you for appriciating ARMember plugin’s features. Regarding the code, let me try to explain you in details:

    1) Regarding installation of the lite version with the premium version, It’s not any bug. Infact it’s the part of code improvement. Eventually the core plugin’s features will be handled by the lite plugin only and all the advanced features avail from the premium version. So to save people from trouble, its installing lite version. From one of the next version it will become compulsory.

    2) Regarding the vulnerabilities, there was not many vulnerability in plugin but some of the WordPress standards were missing and they consider them as potential vulnerabilities. All things are already fixed. As you had noticed about patchstack then you also must have noticed that all are fixed.

    3) Regarding the changelog, thank you for pointing our that confusion in terms of customer point of view. We will definitely address it and will make it more clearer in upcoming versions.

    4) Regarding compatibility with PHP 8.1, we have double checked and we found that ARmember IS compatible with PHP 8.1 and working without any issues. Maybe wphive.com is testing automatically and that’s why it’s not up-to-date. Unfortunately we are/will not consider wphive as standard as its not www.ads-software.com
