Our News items on this page are being output via the Query Loop block. We set it up using the then-current version of WP back during the summer. Output of the Query Loop was set to be Grid, with 3 columns across. It worked exactly as expected.

Since then, the site has been updated, and the layout on the News items now shows 1 column. I looked at the block in the editor, and it it still said 3 columns. So I switched it to 1, saved it, switched it back to 3, and re-saved, hoping a stuck value could get reset. No matter what I do on the column setting, it still shows as one column.

Also, I noticed that the block had changed since the update. The setting for number of columns had been on the Query Loop, but now is migrated to the Post Template block that’s a child of Query Loop. I wondered if the updated block might have broken, so I created a new one to see if that would work. No luck.

I tried switching the theme to Twenty Twenty One, and Twenty Twenty Four, but the column issue persisted.

I had a local dev site with the old WP version where everything worked as it used to. I updated this site copy, and the problem is occurring there as well now.

Anyone know how to fix this?

I am working on new site – query loop block on front page – 2 column – grid view – displays as expected (wp 6.4.1, child theme of frost)

Try this: install health check plugin which can be used in troubleshooting mode to deactivate all plugins and theme? might help narrow down the source of the issue? https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/health-check/

Check Query Loop and Post Template block settings, ensuring the column is set to 3. Clear any block cache that might be affecting the display. You can do this by saving the page after adjusting the block settings and then update plugins and inspect for custom CSS affecting layout.

It turned out that I had a line dequeuing a stylesheet that had previously not been in use (for performance reasons), but now was in use. The change in the Query Loop block must have moved the styles from one sheet to the other. I removed the dequeue of that sheet, and now it works again.
