Question about picture upload size limits

    Hi Jacob

    On our photographic society website, I limit what I upload to Galleries to maximum 1000 pixels.
    We also have member galleries, where they are restricted to only upload images to their own Gallery.
    The previous admin who I have inherited this from, wrote a document stating that all images uploaded will get resized to a maximum of 800×600
    I have found settings in Table I that would appear to be able to restrict image size but this is a resize for display?
    Am I correct? I can’t seem to see a setting that resizes uploading images?
    I am re-writing the members document and want it to be factually correct. So if the images are not resized as I suspect, then I will ask them to create an image that is max 1000 pixels on the longest side.

    “Indicate if the photos should be resized during upload.”

    The “?” help says: “If you check this item, the size of the photos will be reduced to the dimension specified in the next item during the upload/import process.
    The photos will never be stretched during upload if they are smaller.
    The default for this setting is: yes: Checked ”

    AIUI Table I-A3 then gives that resize value.

    Then again, I may be wrong… (I’m not Jacob ??

    After changing Table I-A3 the newly uploaded/imported photos will be resized. Existing ones stay as they are. You can downsize them afterwards by ‘remaking’ them, either on the photo admin page ( ‘Remake files’ button ) individually, or in Table VIII-A11: Remake ( if the surce images are available ) or you can re-upload them on individually on the photo admin page ( ‘Re-upload file’ button ).

    I noted in that setting that the original webmaster had I-A3 set to 800×600, so it looks like the reduction was in place.
    I have upped it to the 1028×768 option as most now have larger resolution screens this day, so browsers can be wider.
