• Hello,

We have a question about the free version of this plugin.

We have a page on our website where would like to offer some free wallpapers to users in return for registering to our newsletter. We tried to set this up in the free version of the plugin (we set a “0” level restriction to that specific page) however it does not seem to have worked. Instead, it restricted the entire website and users were shown the admin log-in page as soon as they landed on the page. Because of this, we had to disable the plugin.

Is there a way that we can make just one page only on the website have this restriction and to somehow have it be a registration which can be linked to a Mailchimp account?

Please let us know if this is an option and how we can set this up.

Many thanks in advance for your help.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi!

What you say about protecting it with level 0 is correct. Level 0 would just require the person to be logged in, basically.

I don’t know why you got that behavior you mention… Could you tell me how you protected the page with the steps to reproduce it? What restriction did you use, and what value did you enter there? A screenshot would be very helpful, too.

About the MailChimp integration, you can find it here: WP admin > s2Member > API / List Servers > MailChimp

    Hello,

Thank you very much for getting back to us.

So just to clarify, we did only get the WP style login page but the problem was that we got this for the whole site when we only set it up for one page.

Here is a screenshot of the page set up. We have the page ID loaded and we set it to be at 0 level but as we mentioned, it locks the whole site.

The site is a live online store so because of this issue, we could not keep the plugin activated so currently you will not see the issue.

Here are a couple more screenshots of the general settings we did on the plugin – not sure if they will help:

Could you please advise how we can restrict the login page just to the page ID which we have loaded in the settings.

    Thank you kindly in advance.

    Thanks for the additional details.

Hmm… The options screenshots don’t show me much, but login page one does. It’s the one you set as the Membership Options Page, right? And the URL includes some variables: ?_s2member_vars=sys..level..0..page..6252

    See: https://s2member.com/kb-article/s2mop-shortcode/#toc-512d8de7

The “sys” part makes me think you set it as the Login Welcome Page, which is automatically protected at Level 0.

How that would then cause the whole site to be restricted, is not clear or probable, though. Is that page your Home page? It shouldn’t be. If it is, that may be a clue.

The behavior you describe is more like protecting with “all” in the posts or pages restrictions, or “/” in the URI restriction. But those would show up diferently in the MOP Vars…

    Hello,

That page which is meant to be locked is not the welcome page for the website but nonetheless, at the moment the whole website gets locked.

We thought that we has set up the general settings in a way which would not restrict the whole site. Could you please let us know if there are any specific general settings which will enable us to lock one page only and how these settings should be set up?

Many thanks in advance for your reply.

Well, any of the restrictions would let you protect a single page. Actually, the default is no restrictions. Restrictions are added in the configuration. So something was changed in s2’s options that is causing that behavior, if it is s2 doing it.

There could be only a few things that restrict all/lots of things, e.g. an “all” in Post/Page restriction, a “/” in the URI restriction…

What do you have in your Restriction Options? Could you go over each, and show me what you have there? WP Admin > s2Member > Restriction Options
