question about post thumbnails on homepage

    ok i have a plugin for auto generating video thumbnails (same issue if its disabled or not)

    my issue is that i had an old theme that made it so when i click the “featured image” it would go to the post.
    but now ive tried a few new themes and some are great but i keep noticing that if you click on the featured image, it will goto the URL of the photo not the post.

    im just wondering if there is some kind of setting or file i can edit to make post thumbnails goto the post url rather than the blah.com/blah.jpg url

    i want it to goto blah.com/new-post-blah-blah so the user can read the post by clicking the thumbnail image, not view the actual image url

    the real problem here is that the user used to goto the post to view the movie, but now the videos are all embedded and playable from the homepage screen

    so i will lose advertising revenue because they can view 10 videos without clicking through the screens, whereas before they went into the specific post to view the video so i was getting ad impressions every time.

    re-reading my question makes it seem like the theme is using the first image/video in the post and directing the user to it.

    so maybe my ‘set as featured image’ function isnt working correctly or something because they are seeing the actual video embedding rather than the video thumbnail that is generated. (i suspect its just not using the thumbnail but i want it to)
