Question about updating the GUIDs

  • We have read your note where you say never to update the GUIDs and we want to check and see if it is okay (and preferred) to update the GUIDs when we have launched a new site and are moving it from a dev site – i.e. update all instances of site-staging.com to site-live.com and check “Replace GUIDs” in this case. We don’t really want to keep the site-staging.com URL as this may have another staging site on it in the future, etc.

    Any feedback you have would be much appreciated.

  • I would think you’re right Jane, you should replace the GUIDs if going from staging to production. Makes sense for me ?? . But let’s wait some more insight from the author.

    I’m not saying I am correct but I did update the GUIDs for this very reason on several sites that I have moved form development domains. I have not had any problem with any of them.

    I look forward to hear what the plugin author says though!
