    Was hoping I can contact prior to purchase but seems like I can’t and forums is only option.

    I wanted to inquire about ‘comment and form spam protection’ option in the security plan.
    What does this do to protect my forums from attacks? I get bots that post threads, seems to be Russian links for the most part.

    Also I do not like to update, wordpress plugins etc. Will purchase force updates or rquire ongoing WP updates to coincide or can I ‘ride out’ the plugin as is.

    I hope for response.

    Out of the box, Akismet only protects your comment and contact forms.

    However, there have been developers that have used our API to protect their forums as well – You can see a list of those here: https://akismet.com/development/api/#use-a-library

    However, we can’t assist in any custom code or in setting up our API for these items.

    As far as updating things on your site – Updating is a very integral part of owning a WordPress site. By updating, you can make sure that your site is quick, secure against security threats, and stable by using the internet’s most recent technologies.

    I definitely don’t recommend “riding out” anything when it comes to website maintenance, but to answer your question, Akismet does not force updates.
