    I have WordPress version 4.0.3 on several sites and really like it. One just one site, the Scan Detailed Activity Log shows lots of text similar to this:

    HTTP_X_FORWARDED_FOR => 10.1.0.221, 58.10.138.17 REMOTE_ADDR => 58.10.138.17 SERVER_ADDR => 67.210.120.5
    [Apr 07 07:50:57] Wordfence can’t get the IP of clients and therefore can’t operate. We received IP: 10.1.0.221, 58.10.138.17. X-Forwarded-For was: 10.1.0.221, 58.10.138.17 REMOTE_ADDR was: 58.10.138.17 Headers that may contain the client IP: HTTP_X_FORWARDED_FOR => 10.1.0.221, 58.10.138.17 REMOTE_ADDR => 58.10.138.17 SERVER_ADDR => 67.210.120.5
    [Apr 07 07:50:58] Wordfence is now receiving IP addresses correctly. We received 200.61.26.215 from a visitor.

    My question is just “what does it mean?” I don’t know if this is indicating a problem or not. Any info on this is welcome. Thanks,
    david

    Hi David,

    I think you mean Wordfence 5.0.3? Is that right?

    This means you need to check the config option on the options page for WF where it says “how does wordfence get an IP address” and change that. Try the REMOTE_ADDR setting first and then generate a few hits on your site and check if it works.

    Regards,

    Mark.

    Hi, Mark,
    I’m still at 4.0.3. Version 5 was a big release and I generally hold back on updates since I maintain this site part time. The site was under a mass DDOS attack when I had posted (I should have mentioned that), BUT the good news is that your suggestion led me to see that Wordfence supports Cloudflare which I just set up a couple of days ago, so I set for Cloudflare. That was terrific to learn! Thanks for all you do.
