Hi there! I hope this is quick/easy question. My client got back to me and noticed that she sees a lot of failed login attempts on the website, especially with her name.

Actually, she said that most of the logs are failed login attempts. Are these bots trying to get into her account?

Each time it shows failed logins it always a different IP address as well? Or instance we are located in New York and 2 of the last 2 failed logins where from Oregon, USA and Vietnam.

Is this “normal” to see on a WP site or should I be worried?

Thank you for using our plugin damonmaldonado.

Failed logins are a pretty normal on WordPress websites. However, if she is seeing failed logins with her own username and it is not her, I’d recommend changing the username and password.

A few good security practices she can apply to her website to beef up the website’s authentication and security are:

    1. Add 2FA
    2. Limit login attempts

The above help with limiting failed logins attempts and also improves the security of the authentication process.

I hope the above helps. should you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to ask.

    Have a great weekend.
