Question on Single Post Front End Editing

  • Here’s what I’m trying to achieve and maybe somebody can steer me in the right direction.
    What I want to be able to do:
    Have the ability for a user to log in and edit just their post preferably from the front end.

    What I have done:
    Installed Role Scoper and created users that have access to their own post in the dashboard. This works except it would be great if they could be directed to their post rather than their profile page. But I’d rather them not have access at all to the dashboard.

    What else I have done:
    Installed Front End Editor. I set it up so that only posts could be edited except: I can’t seem to get it to work. Not really sure what I’m doing (LOL) I installed the plug in and checked the boxes to allow only posts to be edited and clicked the box for the WSYWIG editor. In my tests as a specific user I’m redirected to the dashboard. I’m sure it’s operator error.

    Honestly, if I could just bypass the profile page and go directly to the single post page in the dashboard I would be fine with that but for the user experience I would imagine they would prefer not to do that.

    If anyone has an suggestions I would be very grateful.

    Okay I’ve figured this out.
    The step I was missing was the redirect login plugin.
    So if someone is wanting to know what I did I accomplished this by using three plugins (there might be a better way but for now this works for me)

    1. Use Role Scoper to set up users
    2. Use Front End Editor
    3. Use Peters Login Redirect so that the user is immediately taken to his or her post bypassing the dashboard all together

    You can choose to turn off the top admin bar so that they have no access to the dashboard. But you might want a log out button.

    Just thought I’d share.
