Question re: Image backup feature
-
Just installed ShortPixel and all looks to be working fine but I have a question regarding the “Image backup”.
On the settings page, right by the checkbox, it says:
“Save and keep a backup of your original images in a separate folder.
Usually recommended for safety.”Why would not it be safe to not store the original file?
Is it because the links/connection to each image from there are handled by the plugin, thus, if uninstalled my site might stop displaying the images? The reason why I was looking for image optimization solution is two fold, both equally important:
1) Optimize images on the upload so viewing becomes faster without the user having to pre-optimize them in Photoshop.
=> I accomplished this with your plugin now.2) That we save space on the server and don’t have to upgrade each year.
=> With originals being saved this is not accomplished.Thank you and please let me know your thoughts and answers,
Stan
