    Hi,

I was originally using the sitemap at mysite/sitemap.xml – which listed all of the sitemaps within the index, making it really easy to re-submit if one of the sitemaps started returning errors.

I was looking through my website yesterday and noticed that my actual sitemap was located at mysite/sitemap_index.xml, so I changed the reference in my robots.txt file and submitted this last sitemap into Google Search Console.

All well and good, but Google is now telling me that I have around double the amount of pages that are on my website – which is only to be expected as I’ve theoretically submitted two sitemaps.

Quick question then – is this a recognised practice? Or should I be deleting one of the sitemaps from Google Search Console?

Yoast SEO generated sitemap_index.xml and not sitemap.xml. Therefore, we recommend you please remove the sitemap.xml from your Google search console property and only keep using the sitemap_index.xml

Sir, we also having the same problem, Yoast SEO has generated the sitemap_index.xml to one my friend site, but it doesn’t included the dynamic URLS in the sitemap, then after we submitted one more sitemap in the Search Console with these dynamic urls, but Yoast SEO showing an error message.

    My questions are

Why Yoast seo showing an error?

Why Yoast SEO didn’t included dynamic URLS in the Auto Generated Sitemap?

Is there is any optin how to get all the Dynamic URLS in to the Yoast SEO auto generated sitemap ?

    Please help me.

    Thanks,
    Anil Kumar
