Question regarding per character pricing

Hi

I’m working for a craft shop that specialises in wooden letter blocks for children.

So far we have a name field that charges per character. We are using a product add-on plugin to schieve this.

However as we have no choice but to set a base price, we wnd up charging for one extra character. I have been trying to rack my brains as to how we can work around this. I have toyed with the free plugin but so far I have had no success.

Please could anyone give any advice or guidance? I welcome any help.
