Good morning. I’m considering experimenting with the free version WP Smush plugin on an image-heavy WordPress site that I’ve been maintaining. Note that the site is VERY large, is comprised mainly of high-res images, and currently weighs in at a whopping 30+ GB. We’d of course like to reduce the site’s footprint somehow, and although the WP Smush plugin seems like it might fit the bill, I’m concerned that the plugin’s “Bulk Conversion” functionality might not be able to handle it, and that we might break the site completely if we decide to be brave about it.

Please advise on what we can expect by running the free version of the WP Smush plugin on a 30 GB WordPress site that’s on a Linux shared hosting environment.

    Thanks,
    – Yvan

  • Hello @ygagnon2016

    Hope all is well!

Please note, bulk option in the free version is optimizing 50 images at a time. During the optimization process images are sent one at the time to our servers, which do all heavy work, so it is unlikely to overload your site.

The free version of Smush compressing all standard web-sized images up to 1MB or smaller. If the images are bigger in size, please consider trying our the Smush Pro version, it can optimize images up to 32MB, and bulk smush optimization for all your images in just one-click. We offer a 30 days trial so you could try the plugin.

    Hope this helps!

    Kind regards,
