Questions About Use & Functionality
-
My current setup is UM with WPUF to handle registration, profiles and front end multi author posting. I don’t need groups. I only have one custom role. Curators.
My issue with UM is every . single . time . they update it wrecks the entire site. It’s like they cannot stop tinkering and I end up spending days trying to fix what they broke. I’m not able to even launch because they’ve updated 3 times and it’s wrecked the site every single time.
So I am torn between ProfileGrid and Paid Memberships Pro. I keep coming back to ProfileGrid because it sounds like it has what I need.
This is the flow. I would ask you to clarify whether ProfileGrid does this and whether I need any of the other plugins at all or different ones to accomplish it, and if any are inevitably paid or premium to accomplish it.
Flow.
I want them to register an account on the site. I have specific, custom fields so they can enter their paypal subscription purchase information and their referrer information, including an assigned referral code in their registration so their referrer gets credit for the referral. (UM, WP Referrals)
Once registered, their profile is automatically completed (UM) and their registered date and their referral number automatically show up on their profile as custom fields I added to their role’s profile. They can go on to customize their profiles with additional info and social links. It’s basic but it’s no big deal. Their profiles do show their posts, comments, any forum comments, etc in the menu tabs.
Once registered, their account dashboard has links to their blog posting page (WPUF) from the dash so they can access it from the dashboard and create or manage their blog posts.
To create a blog post, I also include PODS plugin that gives me 24 additional custom taxonomies because I have additional categories with subcategories for more niche topics.
With ProfileGrid…
Custom registration fields with no additional plugin requirements
Registration by custom user roles with email activation or admin approval. In this case, prior to approval they are in a temporary role with zero access until their approval is completed, and then they are manually moved to the official single role and have all permissions. I need the stopgap to approve registrations manually.
All members or some members with the ability to publish blog posts without being in the default wordpress dashboard.
When a registered account is deleted, their content, all uploaded media is removed.
There are no free accounts. All memberships are paid memberships using paypal subscriptions (paypal business acct required).
Register, profiles, multi author blogging, custom role, custom registration fields, referral credit, removal of all member data on deletion of account, nice profiles, content restriction for member visibility only, preferably set by the members, where only logged in members can view the content but non members don’t see anything or they see the post but once they click, get directed to join.
Is this doable with ProfileGrid only or ProfileGrid and additional plugins, and if so which ones?
Thanks for your time.
