Questions Before I Install

I would love to install this on my WP website. However I do have some concerns about implementing the Two-factor authentication via cell phone. I need more information about how this works.
I have 5 moderators that live around the world. Cell phones are not practical and this would not work for them logging in. In addition I run a forum that allows non-registered users to post to protect their anonymity. Akismet has done very well protecting that forum. I also AVH Spam and keep a current blacklist.
My main problem is that the server is being throttled and I need to control that better.
Could someone explain the details of how this works logging into WP? Can I have other administrators logging in using the standard WP login or does that defeat the purpose of the Two-factor authentication? Will I have to require posters to log in to use the forum?
