Quick Cache Not Showing Up After Install

  • We just installed the Quick Cached plugin and activated it.

    However — nothing displays in the left column area where, according to the plugin site, we ought to see “Quick Cache Options” and where we would click “Yes! Enable Quick Cache”.

    We get nothing. I even quit and re-logged back in, but there is nothing regarding “Quick Cache Options” for us to click.

    What to do?

    Since we were unable to delete the plugin, I tried following these instructions:

    Log into your site via FTP; perhaps using FileZilla.
    Delete this file: /wp-content/advanced-cache.php
    Delete this directory: /wp-content/plugins/quick-cache/
    Remove this line from your /wp-config.php file: define(‘WP_CACHE’, TRUE);

    The odd thing is that within our wp-content/plugins folder, there was NO quick-cache folder to delete??

    <sigh>

    I deleted whatever else was there, yet the plugin is still in our system. And if we click “delete” we get an error message. Help!

    It sounds like you have a custom WordPress configuration setup by your hosting company. If you don’t see the plugin in wp-content/plugins/ but you DO see the plugin on your WordPress Dashboard under Plugins, then you need to contact your web hosting company and ask them what’s going on.

    We actually are not seeing the plugin anywhere — not in the plugin folder when viewing via my FTP app. It’s listed under Plugins in the Dashboard, but the “button” to enable it does not display anywhere in the WP Dashboard.

    We are hosted at Netfirms.

    Would you recommend we try to un-install it? We’re having a bit of difficulty doing that too! : (

    If you’re having trouble <i>uninstalling</i> it, then I suspect you have a problem with your hosting account and you should contact your web host about that. Quick Cache has tens of thousands of active users, so if your hosting company doesn’t work well with Quick Cache, I recommend switching web hosts. ??

    Oh, I have no doubts that Quick Cache is great — that’s why I’m trying to figure out how we can get it going on our site!

    I’ll contact the host (Netfirms) and see if they can shed any light on the issue.
