    Hi there!

Great plugin. I love it. ??

I’m a little confused about the whole “Count Up” aspect. I think I have it set right. But am I understanding correctly that it will just display text instead of the counter?

I’m using the recurring plugin. Is there a way to have the counter work twice? What I mean is, instead of just text, is there a way to have it start counting down immediately again?

To put it in perspective, I am running a weekly flash fiction contest. I have a countdown to the start of the contest. The contest will run for 24 hours. It would be nice to have a “time left to submit” counter.

    So:
    Countdown to contest opening
Countdown to remaining time to submit for the contest
After contest closes, countdown to next week’s contest.

Is this possible? Or should I set it up as two separate widgets. Would that work? Or would it look weird?

    Thanks so much!

    Hi,

No, count up mode displays an incrementing timer unless “Use titles for count up mode as ‘Time has arrived’ message” option is checked in widget configuration. For your task you do not need it.
Smart Countdown FX + Easy recurring events implement your scenario perfectly.

Please follow these steps (for shortcode you will find corresponding attributes in reference section https://smartcalc.es/wp/index.php/reference/):

    1. Open “Easy Recurring Events” in “Setting” section of your WordPress administration interface.
    2. Expand “Recurrence Pattern” drop-down in “Configuration 1” section and select “Weekly”.
    3. Check the weekday of your contest start.
    4. Select start time in “Time” setting.
    5. Enter 23:59 in “Duration” setting.
    6. Leave (or reset) Configuration 2 Recurrence pattern as “disabled”
    7. Open widget settings and expand “Import events from:” drop-down.
    8. Choose the first configuration from “Easy Recurring” group (if you gave it a title in plugin setting, anyways just select the first one).
    9. Expand “Counter display mode:” drop-down and choose “Auto + countdown to event end while in progress”.
    10. Set “Title before counter for countdown mode” to the text meaning “Countdown to contest opening”.
    11. Set “Title before counter for count up mode” to the text meaning “Countdown to remaining time to submit for the contest”.
    12. Save.

A similar but a bit more complicated example is shown in case 4: https://smartcalc.es/wp/index.php/cookbook/

    Regards, Alex
