• Since updating some sites to 3.6 I have had a number of reports from editors of quick edit emptying the content of posts and assigning post to another author when the update button is clicked after making an edit (you don’t have to make an edit just open and click update has same effect). This problem only exists in IE8 browser – Followed usual procedures to eliminate theme issues, plugin conflicts etc but still the same problem. Is this a known bug or has quick edit become unsupported in IE8?

    Thanks

  • I’m having this exact problem after upgrading to WordPress 3.6.1 in our test environment. Our production environment is still running version 3.5.2 and this is not an issue in version 3.5.2. This issue has been a major hold up from updating production.

Anyone on how to fix this please? Any help is greatly appreciated!

Either way, I would guess we are stuck with things as they are. I almost always work in Firefox and WinXP, and I just tried what you have mentioned about Quick Edit and a Post. Without doing any actual editing, I altogether lost the title and the post was re-assigned to the different account I was using, I could not fix that, and then I had to log out completely in order to release the Edit Lock so I could use Firefox to put things back as they were. This www.ads-software.com site no longer displays in IE8 in a useable way, and some time ago I had read something somewhere about IE8 being on its way out at the WordPress Dashboard.

Edit: For WordPress, Twenty Twelve marks a turning point of sorts that has since been closed and marked “resolved”:
