Just trying to implement the quick tags provide by scriptygoddess here:
    https://www.scriptygoddess.com/archives/2004/06/10/quick-tags-for-comments/
The problem is I’m having trouble getting it to actually work within the template structure.
I’ve put the js file in the root directory and put the javascripts within the comments.php in the template folder. The buttons appear however they don’t actually work, or more preciecely they don’t actually interact with the text input box. Any ideas about how this could be implemented would be well appreciated.

That has got to be a first. Seems you guys are stumped on this one. I’d post where I’m trying this all out, but the template I’m working on is meant to be a secret, which we’ll be releasing under GPL. If you anyone has got any ideas but needs to have a look at the source code or something tell me, otherwise I’ll probably have to wait for a revision sometime in the future when this has been resolved. Shame really as I think that’s one of the major points that is wrong with the comments section that could really use with a little help.

The only thing that springs to mind is if the js is looking for a text area by one name, but the actual name is something else, or due to nesting, it is in a different layer.

hmm I’ll give this a quick check actually, you might be onto something there. I’ll post back once I’ve had a bit of a tinker.

I’ve posted the code for the actual form. Now the buttons don’t show up if I keep the js file in the themes directory. If I put the file in the root directory then they show up. Thing is they may show up but they don’t work.
I’ve got to admit that I don’t know anything about javascript, so please go a bit easy ??
