Quicktag button available in visual editor but not basic

I have a couple of plugins that have quicktags that are showing in the visual editor, but not in the basic editor. I turn the visual editor off because, like many others, I have problems with it. I have another plugin that has a quicktag that does show up in both editors. How can I get the quicktag buttons for the other two to show up in the basic editor as well as the visual editor?
