• Here’s the message I see when I try to enter my site:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function get_currentuserinfo() in /home1/khevel/public_html/wp-content/plugins/tierra-billboard-manager/tierra-billboard-manager.php on line 52

I see a lot of advice saying to deactivate plugins, but I can’t get to my site at all.

Try manually resetting your plugins (no Dashboard access required). If that resolves the issue, reactivate each one individually until you find the cause.

Assuming the problem is Tierra’s Billboard Manager, which hasn’t been updated 6 years and is only compatible up to WordPress 3.0.5, I recommend finding an alternative at https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/

Thanks. I’ve seen the advice to reset the plugins, but I don’t understand how to do that. I did try to figure it out, but where can I find step by step instructions for someone who’s never had to do any more advanced WordPress maintenance? I’ve been using WordPress for years, but never had to resolve a problem, it always just worked, so when I see instructions like “unpack the zip file” or use FTP I’m lost.

By the way, I don’t need Tierra, if that’s the problem I could just delete it I suppose (if I knew how).

Ok, access your server via SFTP or FTP, or a file manager in your hosting account’s control panel, navigate to /wp-content/plugins/ and simply delete the whole /tierra-billboard-manager/ directory there.

    Khevel,

To complement James’ post, and assuming your site is hosted on a common shared hosting setup where you have cPanel and File Manager access, see if the “Choice 1” instructions in this article are helpful to you:

    https://www.ostraining.com/blog/wordpress/disable-a-wordpress-plugin/

That will deactivate Tierra’s Billboard Manager. You should then be able to log back into your site and delete the plugin from there.

If that doesn’t work out, you may have to consider getting professional assistance. Try asking your hosting provider for help and see if they will remove the plugin for you.

Sorry about that, I had to remove the list bit of your reply. We can’t allow help to be directly solicited offsite, for safety concerns: https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Forum_Welcome#The_Bad_Stuff

    James, no worries.

Thanks for the heads up. ??
