My issue is very random and hard to repro and… I don’t have a repro case yet.

The problem I run into is since I enabled Disk Cache for Pages, Database and Objects, random pages are coming up blank and the only way to resolve is to clear cache. That that point, the page paints just fine.

Like I said, once I clear the cache, the problem goes away however I don’t have a good way of triggering it and only know about it when a user notifies me… ??

  • I’ve had random issues with blank pages with W3TC rewrite rules came _after_ the wordpress rewrite rules in .htaccess.

I’m curious – is everyone else experiencing this problem just with the home page? As I’ve been testing this I seem to only have the problem with the home page. All other pages appear to load without issue.
    Very strange.

Mine might be a special case.. not sure. I’m using some PHP in the header in connection with Tera-Wurfl to redirect mobile visitors based on user agent string. Because of that I’m needing to use the mfunc coding to allow that php code to be executed every time without being cached.

Anyway, just wanted to see if anyone else has noticed this being restricted to the home page.

    Hello,

I’m currently running a multisite install of wordpress ( 3.5.1 version) with last release of w3tc ( 0.9.3 ) and I’m still having the same problem.

url without trailing slash is not redirected ( except after the first request just after a cache flush) properly to the same url with the trailing slash.

It happens only with Page Cache activated. I’m using memcached as Page Cache method and can’t change to disk enhanced.

If you have any idea that could help to find a solution to the problem.

    Thanks a lot !

There’s this option in page cache settings that looks related:

“Reject HEAD requests: Disable caching of HEAD HTTP requests
If disabled, HEAD requests can often be cached resulting in “empty pages” being returned for subsequent requests for a URL.”

Unfortunately it’s grayed out and unchecked for me, and blank pages happen often enough for readers to notify me a few times a week.

I also have had some timeout issue when posting and emptying spam recently, so I may have other issues as well.

    Hello,

In fact, I solved the issue. It was due to a “space” before head tag.
Header was already sent before redirection.

I removed the white space and now it works just fine !

    Thanks !

I can’t understand why this painful white death screen have lived for ages without a death-match resolution from the Author. I am not blaming him for making this plugin which supposed to give a breath of fresh air. Assuming..

The White Screen of Death has long live for ages without pure resolution for the soul!!

The same tags of frustration all over the place, but when the creator can finally end all of these sufferings cause by the system he created for mankind?!!

My questions… Isn’t it the main purpose of this creation to ease burden? If so… then why is this same “PAIN and Soul Grieving” persist to co exist even from the very beginning?
Is it part of the main purpose to create chaos?! if so… then

LONG LIVE THE WHITE SCREEN OF DEATH! Long Live WHITE SCREEN OF DEATH!

I’m now using another cache plugin (Quick Cache), and it has the exact same issue. I wonder what both plugins may have in common.

I basically had enough of the blank page issue which could not be resolved, switched to Hyper Cache – no issues at all

Just adding my two cents, since I have been struggling a lot with this issue lately. ??

What worked for me, is to go into my Plesk settings and don’t use nginx for the domain. All requests are handled by Apache now, and that appears to be helping. For now…

    Might be worth investigating @fredericktownes?

Keep up the good work with the plugin!

    Hi there,

I’ve been trying to track this issue across multiple threads. I’ve since disabled Page Caching until a solution has been found.

    Any suggestions?

    Many thanks,
    Justin

More a workaround, than a solution. I’ve written a script to delete cache files without <body>, and run it every 5 minutes in a cron job.

This is for another cache plugins, but it could be adapted to W3TC:
