Random Images for Slideshow.

Clarification. When displaying the slide show I want to display random images from a specific gallery in random order.

@dklassen – Are you looking to only display a specific number of images from the gallery as well?

This can most likely be done with a shortcode but I will need to know a few more details about the end-results you are looking for.

@dklassen – Give the following shortcode a try …

[ngg_images gallery_ids=1 display_type=photocrati-nextgen_basic_slideshow order_by='rand()']

Please note using the rand() option could cause a slowdown on your site as the random order(s) are generated and may even not be supported by your web host as a default.

Works perfect, many thanks! One more thing, could you possibly add in the code to make it 700×500 and turn thumbnail link off?

Ah, never mind. I saw that the short code uses the default gallery slideshow settings. Thanks again!

@dklassen – Yes, it does use the “defaults” under Gallery > Gallery Settings as they apply to the specific display type(s) … there are also additional parameters in most cases where you can over-ride those as well.
