random [obj] being inserted in titles

Can you post a link to the front end of one of those posts, as well as a screen shot for the editor?

This is happening because of text being copied pasted from a rich text editor like Microsoft Word.
One workaround is copy paste the text in a notepad file before pasting in WordPress directly,this will remove all extra codes from the text.

I have seen this happening since upgrading to wordpress 5.9
We have a newspaper and we are doing that continiously and it’s happening just from 5.9

And the worst thing is that that OBJ goes also to the url

I think that this is really a big problem. It would be great if it’s solved.

Is this related with Newspaper theme.
I am also using that and the strange thing is that this is happening only on Newspaper theme installed site, other wp installations i haven’t seen this issue.

I have several news wordpress, one even with Newspack from Automatic, and it’s happening in all of them since 5.9. The reason is that journalists usually copy/paste the titles from Word and similars.

Tell your editors to stop copy/pasting and type the titles, or to backspace over the “OBJ” after pasting.

Well, thank you @sterndata for the advise…

Of course we are doing it, but it’s kind of difficult with a newspaper with many editors and most of them working remotely.

I’m posting this problem here just in case it’s a bug as it was not happening before Wordress 5.9, at least to us.
