• I went onto my website and found that the menu bar along the top was completely different to what it should be. It had the normal home button, but then the rest of the pages apart from 2 were subpages (not parent pages) which are now displayed as parent pages.

I logged onto WordPress and onto the Pages section and I couldn’t find the missing pages anywhere, not even in the trash.

The only editing I done that day was to remove subscribers and unticked the box about allowing anyone to register, it had been fine before the weekend (I hadn’t checked it until yesterday).

I am not sure if this is a glitch or something with WordPress, something I have done (I can’t think what) or a possible hack. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

    Thank you in advance.

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder – from a fresh download of WordPress. Make sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new ones.

I have to say that this does sound like a database issue. Have you spoken with your hosts in case they have experienced problems and restored an older database backup? Do you have any recent database backups?

Thank you for your response, I’m unfortunatley unable to try these because I only monitor the website for my employer.

I will send her your response and give it a try.

    Thank you for your help!
