• Hi all,

I’ve been having trouble with removing this line of text that’s appearing at the top of on every single page of my site.

It’s not in any settings, and when I use the Inspect tool, it shows that the code is appearing after the <head> tag ends, and right after <body class> tag starts.

I’ve scoured through all the theme files in theme file editor and have also tried switching to other themes. Somehow, it’s just there so it doesn’t seem to be a theme problem. (I’m using Flatsome Child theme by the way).

The line of text randomly appeared and has been there for months. I’m not sure how it even got there to begin with.

Please help with any suggestions on what can be done to remove this line of code.

    Thank you!

  • I don’t see the text you are talking about. What does it say and where, exactly, is it?

Hi there! If you notice, there should be a dark blue bar right before the white header at the top. On the very left side, there’s a line of text which says “newpathclinics.com.sg”. It’ll be more obvious if you drag and highlight with your cursor because the text is dark coloured.

I suggest to check anywhere in your theme or plugins where you would add header scripts. It looks like a remnant of some script that may have been added somewhere. Or if you have modified any code on your site lately you would want to check that. It’s hard to say without being able to check the backend myself.

I’ve tried checking the scripts under Global Settings in WP and so far the only scripts there are the ones that are properly installed. This piece of code just isn’t there and is nowhere to be found in the usual places!

It’s not really code. It’s just text that is somehow loading the WP Head. You mentioned you have a child theme. Does it do this when you activate the parent theme? If not, then it might be in your child theme’s functions.php file.

If that doesn’t help then I suggest to try activating a default theme as well as deactivate plugins and see if the issue persists. At least then you would know which theme or plugin might be causing the issue.

I’m a WordPress Tech expert with over 15 years experience and those are the steps I go through for any issue that doesn’t seem to be easy to find.

Also check to see if you have any files located under /wp-content/mu-plugins – these are “must use” plugins and it’s also possible if there is some plain text in those files it could be loading at the top of your site.

There are really a lot of possibilities here.

    Also check your wp-config.php file

If you still need help after this you may need to hire someone or restore the site from a backup from before this issue started.
