Hi,

Since a few weeks the Insta feed’s (using your widget) running on all of our websites (located on different servers, locations, hosting companies etc.) are having issues where the feed is empty and you can see in the Network tab in DevTools that Instagram is requiring some login.

As I cannot post a screenshot, I’ll need to show image uploaded on ImgBB:

This ‘login’ is causing the following error by your plugin:

This issue is, like I mentioned, happening on many websites running this plug-in. I even found out your own Demo page is having this issue:

Most of the day the feed’s are broken. And yes, I have tested this on many, many, computers, phones and different networks but the results are the same. Sometimes it works, sometimes it does not work for hours or days straight.

I know this might not be a problem on your side, but what is going on? Does Instagram have rate limiting? Does it have issues every day, all day long? Is the method used to fetch feeds not working properly?

Could you help us out?

Thanks for writing to us and sharing the details.

PowerPack uses a web parsing-based method to fetch the photos from Instagram.com.
This method relies on the ability to access the https://instagram.com/ site and fetch the images from the public profiles.

Recently Instagram has changed the access method, and now it is mandatory in some regions to login to https://instagram.com to view and get data from the public profiles. Due to this the logic responsible for fetching the photos is not working and hence the feed is not showing any photos.

Our dev team is looking for an alternate solution but currently, we don’t have one. I am sorry for the inconvenience caused.

As an alternative, you can use the following plugin for your requirement – https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/instagram-feed/

Hi there,

Thank you! Forgot to let you know we updated.
However, Instagram has introduced a strict origin when cross origin policy, meaning the public feeds cannot be fetched anymore and API is needed from now on

Could you confirm this?
