Ranker for List Items

  • I’m looking for a way to:
    Create a list of items in one post
    Allow users to vote up items so they are ranked by popularity
    Allow users to add items to the list

    For example, the question might be: Who are your favorite fictional characters?
    The lists starts off with:
    Harry Potter
    Holden Caulfield
    Elizabeth Bennett

    Users can vote on these or add their own. There is a Ranker List Widget plugin but it only imports lists from Ranker.com. I want a list on my site, with my own audience. Any ideas?

  • To my knowledge Ranker is the only option for this. However, it’s easy to make the list on Ranker.com and basically just use it as a tool for your audience on your site. Yes, the list is mirrored on Ranker – it’s just the way the system works – but you can add a link to your site on the list page on Ranker to help promote what you are doing. If you don’t want the exposure on Ranker just email info AT ranker dot com and ask to have your list “buried” so that it will be unlikely to get viewed by people browsing Ranker.

    Thanks Clark, but I’m still looking for a solution that doesn’t involve a 3rd party. I can probably set something up with posts and plugin but was hoping for an easier way.
