My yoast sitemap in search console is showing noindex tag error for last 3 weeks. Now also my products in google are no more showing yoast meta title?and discription. So a hard work which we have done for 200 products in last 2 years,is ruined.
We deleted our sitemap_index.xml many times and and resubmitted, yoast deleted and again uploaded, plugin compatibility checked, also in whole view-source couldnt found any noindex tag. We also changed our theme cached plugins deleted, 90% robots.txt file is deleted but yet the noindex tag appears in search console:(. We failed badly.
Last week i have created anoyher sitemap, sitemap.xml and i tested it live in my search console, that is working.
My designer and seo specialist both failed to find this errror generated by yoast. Please help me to solve this issue as i want my all metas back into google without losing my ranking.
    Thank you.

    Best regards,
    Amatul

    Hi @bedbazaar ,

First, we want to say that we understand that it can be distressing having these types of problems on your site.

The Yoast plugin automatically adds a “noindex” tag to the sitemap in the server response headers, in the X-Robots-Tag. We add this tag because you don’t want your sitemap to appear in the search results. However, the URLs in it will still be crawled and indexed by search engines without any issues.

Adding a “noindex” tag to the sitemap is perfectly fine and will not cause any problems, as confirmed by John Mueller from Google

Regarding the meta tag issues, we understand that you are seeing a different title and description in the search results, from the ones you configured in Yoast SEO, is this correct?

If so, please check the following troubleshooting steps, to check that the title and description in the source code of the page matches the one you’ve entered in Yoast.

If the titles and descriptions match, the cause of the issue here is that Google is changing them in the search results, as explained here.

Please let us know if you have any further information.

    Hello Marcanor,
Thanks for your quick reply. I think i didnt understood your reply properly. So it becomes now even more worrying and confusing for me.
As you have mentioned that ”We add this noindex tag” But how it is possible that this tag is not added into some other websites. I have tested 2 differet sitemap urls just a few minutes ago in search console, see following link. https://prntscr.com/sj09kq . https://prntscr.com/sj0abd . I cant understand this rule which becomes different for different websites. My site’s ranking is dropped very badly as some of my main high ranked urls lost thr meta titel and meta discriptions in search engines.

@bedbazaar We checked on the sitemap at https://www.bedbazaar.nl/sitemap_index.xml using Curl and confirmed that an X-Robots metatag of ‘noindex’ is being returned:

    cbailey$ curl -I https://www.bedbazaar.nl/sitemap_index.xml
    HTTP/1.1 200 OK
    date: Mon, 18 May 2020 14:20:33 GMT
    x-robots-tag: noindex, follow

We also checked on the sitemap at https://www.ranatex.nl/sitemap_index.xml and found that it is not rendering correctly (see image here), which is likely what is causing the X-Robots metatag to not be output. We reviewed the source code of the sitemap and do see that it is being cached (see image here).

We have a guide on how to exclude your site’s sitemaps caching for a variety of plugins and caching types at the following link: https://yoast.com/help/exclude-sitemaps-from-cache/. If you don’t see the type of caching your site is using listed there, you may need to contact your hosting provider for assistance.
