the_excerpt() is being called in index.php, and it worked earlier
cant name a definitive date when it stopped working, sorry.

after a settings reset and a cache deletion, I changed the language and made some other minor changes.

I also tried disabling my caching plugin, but it had no effect.

After all the troubleshooting, any sign of the rating widget has disappeared -_-

    Hi @yjan,

    Have you tried the following?
    1. Disabling all other plugins to see if it resolves the issue.
    2. Activating other theme to see if it resolves the issue.

    Thanks

disabling the plugins was no success, but reverting the theme to twenty fourteen mad rating stars come back.

yet, i have no clue what could have caused this sudden collapse.

could you give me an idea what i could check?

addthis was also a plugin that came back after changing the theme. im in the unfortunate situation that i cannot simply ‘change’ the theme to a working one.

work in progress but looks good: have delimited the error to a few theme files by removing them.
