• It seems that several plugins are breaking the visual editor in 2.7. I have seen info about Kimili Flash Embed and know that he has posted an update that fixes the problem with that plugin.

I also was experiencing the same problems. The editor window was visible on the new post/edit post admin pages, but forced into HTML mode. I don’t have the kimili plugin so I went about checking each plugin.

I deactivated all plugins at once and then activated each one, one at a time until I hit the culprit. Then I reactivated all the rest of the plugins to make sure I had isolated the problem. When everything worked correctly, I was sure that I had found the problem plugin.

RB Internal Links, which hadn’t really been working properly on my site for a while now, so no big deal.

    Deactivated and problem solved.

Hope this helps someone else with this same issue.

Yes, if you have visual editor problems, deactivate plugins first. Any plugin that loads a different version of TinyMCE (like rb-internal-links does) or which has it’s own version of jquery or anything along those lines can break the javascript that WordPress is trying to use.

In general, avoid plugins that contain Javascript libraries matching those already in WordPress. A plugin really does not need to roll-it’s-own, it can use the one in WordPress already if it’s there.
