I have been using the plugin for a few years. Today I de-activated the plugin to do some troubleshooting. Upon re-activate the plugin, I noticed it also installed the anti-hacker plugin without asking my consent, if there is one I must have missed it.

After that, I encountered an Internal Server error, and both backend and front end failed to load. I have to resolve the issue by deactivate the anti-hacker plugin through FTP.

I am using the latest WordPress version, and PHP 8.2.7. I am also using Post SMTP plugin, not sure if this is related to the issue. The following errors is recorded:

[12-Jan-2024 11:04:13 UTC] FATAL Postman: Postman: wp_mail has been declared by another plugin or theme, so you won’t be able to use Postman until the conflict is resolved.

    Hey John,

Our plugin doesn’t install Anti Hacker without your explicit confirmation by pressing a button. However, you can remove it normally if you wish, although we don’t recommend it.

    The message:

seems to indicate a conflict between plugins. Please refer to our troubleshooting page for details on how to identify and resolve such conflicts.

indicates that the plugin couldn’t create an index for the wpyq_ah_scan_files table. This typically occurs when you use our Anti Hacker plugin to scan your disk for malware. This error doesn’t occur on our servers and may be related to a limitation in your MySQL configuration. Or maybe you have some table damaged. You can use our free plugin wpTools to check your’s tables.

After following the steps above, please let us know if you still need any further assistance.

    Cheers,

Currently I already have other security plugin that serves me well in the last several years, so there is no immediate intention on my side to further investigate those error messages. Thanks.?

I made a test with a new fresh installation of WordPress on a different server without any other plugins activated.

Upon activation of the Stop Bad Bots plugin, a screen showing me the Term of Service which I need to press a button to agree.

On this screen, it does mention about an extension called anti hacker,  initially it does not occur to me that this so call “extension” is actually a separate plugin which will also be installed automatically.

So I was totally taken aback when I saw the popup windows after hitting the agree button. I didn’t know an extension to a plugin, can actually turned out to be a separate plugin by itself.

I hope you could consider giving the user the option to opt-out of it.

    Thanks

    Hi John,

Extensions are also known as plugins. I believe that our anti-hacker plugin is indispensable because hackers use bots to exploit vulnerabilities, causing server overload and posing security risks. We recommend its installation, but if you click the ‘I do Not Agree’ button, it will not be installed. If, by chance, you click ‘I Agree,’ you can remove it just like any other plugin.

    Cheers,

    Bill

Oh, I didn’t know that I could click “I do not Agree” and the Stop Bad Bots’ plugin can still runs ??

So the next time if I need to troubleshoot my site, and need to deactivate/reactivate the plugin again, I know what to do if I encounter the same scenario again. Thanks!
