• Hi,

I’m sure this already has been addressed in a number of ways (as I’ve looked for a few solutions, but none seem to be working), but after making the Parabola update, my Front Page slider no longer operates, it’s simply in a constant state of loading (I believe, given the pinwheel).

Do let me know any solutions you’ve found that might address this issue.

  • Hello, SalemJay here! Slider problem here too.

On my website (suezqsmith.com) I recently switched from the Eclipse theme to the Parabola theme. The sliders worked great with the Eclipse theme, but I can’t figure out how to get them to work at all with this Parabola theme (which I prefer except for this hangup).

I can upload my image just fine, so it looks like it would work, but I can’t get any sliders to actually show up on my website. I’ve tried using the Presentation Page and I’ve tried putting them directly on my Home page.

I have tried deactivating my plugins, but that doesn’t fix it.

I am keeping everything up to date. WordPress 3.7.1 and Parabola 1.3.1 by Cryout Creations.

I’m fairly new to this, so I could just be missing something. Or is it a bug? What should I check? Thank you!

What slider are you trying to get to work?
Parabola has its own slider on the presentation page (which I see you use) and I also see you got one image on it, but something is interfering and makes the slider behave like it has 2 images.

Thank you, theZedt! It’s working great now.

I was expecting the changes I made to happen right away like when I was working with the Eclipse theme, but it seems they are taking about 15 minutes to become effective. So I thought my actions weren’t changing anything consistently, but they were.

Also it appears I have to use the “Presentation Page” to see sliders using the Parabola theme, instead of my regular “Welcome” page – is that true?

Which would the “regular” Welcome page be?

Changes done in the theme settings are effective immediately. Perhaps you are using a caching plugin and get a cached version of the page for a while.

How do I get my “Presentation” page to function as my “Home” page? If I click “Home” page in my menu, it takes me to a default template…not my Presentation page. If I am on another page, I have to click on my logo to get back to my “Presentation” page. I do not have it set as a static page because I want the slider to work.

@jlh14 Here’s some info on WordPress menus https://codex.www.ads-software.com/WordPress_Menu_User_Guide

This should sort things out for you.
