I’m installing a new instance of WP and foolishly clicked the “Remove Header” button in the default (Twenty Ten) theme. I’ve dropped the database, and re-installed twice; closed and opened browser, cleared cached, etc. but the theme is still not picking up even the header. When I look at the code view, the img tag is pointing to a directory and file that’s there, it’s just not displaying. Shows the broken image link icon.

    https://www.yesterdayontheinternet.com is the URL

It seems like the behavior from originally clicking the Remove Header button is persisting across the multiple installs. Is that somehow set with a cookie?

    Deeply confused

  • It’s stored in the database. Remember to press CTRL and F5 simultaneously when viewing an updated page/site. Or try emptying your browser cache. This should ensure that your web browser fetches a fresh copy of the page rather than serving up an out-dated copy from your own cache.

Should add, I’ve been able to restore the original header and it works. I copied the theme to my local, changed the folder name and name it style.css and uploaded again, but still no result. Is this install just forever broken?

Per my post, I’ve cleared the cache. Check it now, and view the code. You’ll see that it’s pointing to a file, and that file exists in that directory per my FTP client. So…

The image file exists but its dimensions are 0 by 0 pixels.

How is that happening. When I go via FTP client, the file is the normal 940 x 198. But I tried just putting in the direct url, and it shows as you describe.

    Now even more deeply confused.

Thanks for helping me, BTW. Much appreciated.

Going back into image, I’m not able to open it locally with Chrome either. Looks normal in other programs like preview and Photoshop.

Very odd. Let me bang my head against the wall for a while longer, and I’ll let you know how I do…

Well, I resaved it via PS, and it returned to normal behavior. FWIW, I used the save for web and devices feature, although it was already RGB 72dpi…

    Thanks for the help.
