• My webhost went down a few days ago. They restored my files but not my SQL account. So, I pretty much read this forum and got my SQL backup on the server. I also edited the wp-config.php to this effect. This still gets me the ‘Error establishing a database connection’ error.
Can some one help me please?

See, the problem was this – when I logged in to MySQL accounts (I do not have cPanel, I use eXtendCP) it said that there were no accounts. So, I created a new account and then imported my .sql into that account.
Also change the wp-config.php to relect the change, but to no avail!

Okay. So, just to keep up, I installed a newer version of WP in the root directory of my site. Is there a way that I can import my old database here?

No. You can only import XML file (not SQL) from old install via WP Manage>Import WordPress in Admin if you were able to export it from old install.
Can you not contact tech support from webhost to find out why you cannot set up the database? If you were able to import SQL into your database and you have the correct information in wp-config.php, then you should be able to connect to it.
