After using autofocus-theme on 3.1.3 everything got coorupted and I can’t get into the dashboard anymore, nor have I backed the blog up properly. Is there a way to re-install wp, replacing the current corrupted installation through ftp-upload? Is it also possible to save the posts and images as long as I can fetch them through FTP? The theme, plugins and widgets are unimportant.

I thought that everything was alright now, buit when I click on the media-tab in the dashboard there appears an odd cod-string at the top of the dashboard instead of the dashboard-heading. I copyed it and here it is:

You have a faulty plugin. Try installing the Hotfix plugin:

What wonderful forum and “theme-divas” this is! ?? It surely fixed it! Thanks a lot.

It seems like it’s not only faulty plugins on my site – too bad. The whole blog installation seems unstable. Because of that I have created a new development/twin blog at a new domain to use for backup and to develop my site safely magnemyhren.com. At this site I have uploaded all the posts and comments from an export file from the main-blog magnemyhren.no/WP/. At magnemyhren.com I installed the carrington-theme – which I felt in love with, and I tried to do that also at magnemyhren.no/WP/, but the result was that the dashboard again got full of odd codings. I managed to change back to Twenty-ten again, so the blog works, but I learned that the blog has some main problems.
Is it possible to use the freshly installed folder-structure at magnemyhren.com to replace the unstable ones at magnemyhren.no/WP/ , except for the config file, of course?

    (@magnemyhren)

In addition I suspect there are some trouble with the php-coding/structure (or whatever it is called) because I cannot manage to export the databese from magnemyhren.no/WP/ like I did before or like I can do with magnemyhren.com

    Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the Twenty Ten theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

Thank you for beeing there ??
I’ve done the two first options you listed here, but not the third.
    Perhaps the following is important:
I looked into the php-admin panel for the database, and i saw there were far more databases than the 11 “starters” (forgive my bad subject-vocabular) There were for instance some listed there that belongs to plugins I have tested a long time ago, wich is no longer in use. Perhaps these should be deleted manually?

I wouldn’t touch them for now. They shouldn’t be creating any problems.

Should I clean up the content of the plugin-folder and delete the folders of plugins that are not listed in the dashboard? For instance there are two folders fancy-box and fancy gallery while there are only one installed fancy-box plugin.

    (@magnemyhren)

I’ve now tried to do what you have told me to do – all three options. But the problem is still there. Now all the plugins are deactivated and even previewing another theme than twenty ten causes caution-messages and lists of codings.

The “painter”-theme seems to work all right. This is the theme I have used for a long period of time. Then I tested some other themes, for instance autofocus, and this is when the trouble seems to have started.

    Thread Starter magnemyhren

    (@magnemyhren)

Well, Painter-theme also caused some trouble ??
It seems like the trouble is fudamental!

I just browsed your both wordpress seem to be working fine what makes you think that you are having problems and where

    Thread Starter magnemyhren

Shouldn’t it be possible to fix the whole problem by copying my working installation from magnemyhren.com to the unstable magnemyhren.no/WP/ via ftp?
