Perhaps I dont understand basic purpose of links library….when it is install on a site with many links, do this links have to be reentered or should they show up in link libary or link manager They all do show up in the plug in link checker.

I have a new website with a new page with lots of links
    https://warpoetry.org/?page_id=461

    I installed your link library

I though all the links on the above page would show up so I could assign the catagories…

but the links page is empty..,I am not sure what your program is supposed to do. Do I need to reenter all the links

the broken link checker plug in shows all the links

    thank you

Link Library is a plugin used to build pages like the link page that you have, without just creating a simple page. Instead, you add links in the back-end using the Links section, then configure how links will be displayed.

Link Library cannot import links from a flat HTML page. There is a way to import links if you enter them in a CSV file following the example format.

The Broken Link Checker plugin is different. Its purpose is to identify all links in all pages and check if they are valid, which is something entirely different.

Thinking about your question a bit more, I could potentially create an importer to extract all links from a page for people who have created a links page before finding Link Library. Would that be of interest to you, or were you looking for a tool to manage links within your pages?

It would be wonderful. I am lookng for both…..a link extractor, what we used to call a crawler or spyder) and a link manager…..however, if we could extract all the links, then your present program works to manage the links display on any page….

I spent the past few days looking for a link manager to do that. Having a link manager, essentially a link editor, so all my sites’ links were in one place, where I could edit them all, substitute, add, delete, import, export, organize etc the links would be a great help…

I think if you were t0 add this to your program it would be truly a link manager, useful to many people because now, the only way to list all of the links on a site is with the broken link checker plugin and where you need to export these via csv then work on them externally, then reimport…..very difficult.

In addition the program would be useful for adding new links

perhaps you could also add the ability of specifying which page on the site whose links you want to import. in addition to option for whole site at once.

I have another site with many links that I inherited….and it has taken hours of work to get it in shape and it still needs work…

and then there is a site I am dong for Sherbrooke . I first had it as pure code website then transferred to word press…..organizing the links was a pain in the butt…

let me know if you decide to do this, because then I will wait before I do any more work organizing my links.

I will look at adding this capability in the next few days, perhaps even during this long week-end.

I just posted a new version with this new site import functionality, to be found under the Import / Export tab. Please upgrade and let me know if it works as expected for you.

Please consider making a donation to support this plugin’s development.

As discussed via e-mail, problem resolved in 5.9.12.22. Was missing a new code file.
