Read more does not work

  • I followed the instructions to create on my blog page the ‘read more’ tag.
    What I do or try it will not function. I like to work first offline because I am still learning to use WordPress. So the blog is not published yet.
    Please help!!

    WP version: 4.9.6
    Mac OS 10.13.4
    Theme: Taproot

    Hi there!

    There are some options built into the theme. In Customizer > Posts > Post Box Styles, you can choose between an inline link, a link that is on it’s own line, and a button. You can also set the excerpt length.

    If you have a post that you need a custom excerpt, use the “excerpt” field on the post to add what you want, and it will use that instead of generating one from your content.

    In looking at how this works, I did find a bug with the customizer options. I’ve already fixed it, but you’ll need to wait for me to push a maintenance release. I’ll try to get that out in the next few days.
