"Read More" link missing

Using version 1.2 of SoSimple – adding <!–more Read Article–> or Just <!–more–> in the post shortens the description in the main post page, however, it does not add a “Read Article” or ANY LINK at the end of the shortened description. Web-Page is not active, working on WAMP.
Tried many WP forums, however, post are 5-7 years old – before template-parts folder – Can you help?
