Read More link on Astrid
-
Hello,
I’m struggling to get the Read More link to work as desired, and I’m wondering if Astrid handles excerpts in a certain way that’s causing the problem. In my posts, I always insert the “More” block after the first or second paragraph. What I want to happen is the following:
1. On the homepage, have a “Read More” link at the point where I insert the block.
2. When readers click on that link, have them transferred TO THE POINT OF THE BLOCK, not to the top of the page.
3. On the search archive page, include the “Read More” link.Currently, the homepage does include the “Read More” link, which is good. But when you click on that link, it takes you to the BEGINNING of the post. I would prefer for the link to include the fragment identifier and to transfer readers to the next paragraph AFTER the “More” block.
Additionally, the “Read More” link does not appear on search archive pages. I would like it to appear on those pages; otherwise, it looks as though the search results contain the entire post, not an excerpt.
Any suggestions? In the main WordPress forum (https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/landing-spot-for-read-more-link/), somebody suggested that my issue is that I’m showing excerpts instead of full content, and that switching to full content would fix the issue. But when I change my settings to full content instead of excerpts, the homepage changes drastically, removing pictures and placing a “More” link after the first few lines of text instead of where I inserted the block. This makes me think that Astrid is somehow creating excerpts on its own, even when I’m trying to show full content (along with the “More” link).
Please advise. (FYI, I tried posting in the Astrid forum on the aThemes site, but they flagged my post; I have no idea why.)
Thanks,
