I am building a static site, no blogs. I’m trying to set up a FAQ where the question is listed, then you click to expand the answer. I thought the Read More tag was the answer, but all it does is put the “more” tag in. Beyond that I can’t see how to add the hidden text. Maybe this isn’t the correct usage. I’m using twenty sixteen theme.

I’ve tried typing after the tag and typing all the text and inserting the tag, but in the preview it always shows all the text with no link. I haven’t published the page yet, it is still a draft, didn’t think that would matter, it should function properly in the preview, right?

I’ve never used this before, and in all my searching, I haven’t found just the basic instructions for using this function.

Take a look at this write up:

Thanks for the link Jack. It still doesn’t do anything, I read on article that the tag only works on home page/Posts page and archives. This is an upper level page other than the home page, although I created a post page and tried it there and it still didn’t work. I’ve also added PJW Page Excerpt plug in and tried that, nothing.

What I do is type a question, insert the read more tag, then continue to type in the answer to the question after the tag. In preview, it shows all the text I typed and no link.

I’m considering setting up the page with the questions as links to explanations further down the page, but I haven’t found the option to link to other places in the same page. We used to call them anchors. Any advice on this?
