Read More tag doesn’t work on my website

I am using the ‘read more’ tag on a text of a static web page, which is still not on-line.
The page is being build using the Elementor plugin and the Customify theme.
I can see the read more block appearing in the text-editor window,

but when the page is updated no effect is visible and the text can be read in full.
Any help appreciated
