Read More Within Anchor Tag

There really isn’t a good solution for the plugin breaking when displaying a read more within an anchor tag. This plugin was a pick up from another plugin which we no longer use.
I would suggest using the built in WordPress option or using a function to display a specified amount of content then add a read more button manually.
